Domestic Flood Drying Success

Some examples of our success in the drying out of flooded houses, semis, cottages and stately homes.

In almost all cases other “experts” had recommended substantial rip out be undertaken prior to us starting.

  • Storm flash flood to Listed Thatched house in Oxfordshire. Entire ground floor soaked. Convectant system deployed. Nothing ripped out Dried in five days. 50% saving over other contractors original drying quote with savings due to our no strip policy.

  • Flood from pipe burst in the loft to Listed, cob built detached house, Devon. Entire house saturated. Some structural damage from ceiling collapses and two walls which exhibited long term water damage but nothing ripped out. The rest of the property was dried in three weeks without anything other than the removal of vinyl wallpaper - saving the owner a significant amount on the original proposal to hack the cob of the walls and start again.

  • G2 Listed Conversion Carlisle: River flood throughout building. Ground floor of the property had been converted to three apartments. Unluckily for the Insurers of the two apartments, their apartments were gutted costing time and money. We dried the third - and largest apartment in sixteen days leaving all dry lining in place. HUGE savings for Insurers by using the speed drying system.

  • Detached bungalow Canvey Island. Flood to sub floor void, slightly damaging lower walls. The Insurers nominated drying contractor and surveyor recommended stripping out of floorboards and the hacking off plaster to a height of 1 mtr. This would also mean emptying the house of contents and putting the homeowners into alternative accommodation for months. Someone had the foresight to call Action dry in and using our speed drying system the property was dried with all furniture in place and with NO hacking off or floor removal. Drying took 12 days at a cost of less than £6000. This saved £14000 off the original £20000 quote to make good from other contractors.

  • Semi Detatched House, Telford: Following a long term leak from the loft pipe which eventually burst, the Insurers preferred supplier in charge of drying the property accepted that the refrigerant dehumidifiers they were using would take six months or more to dry it out IF all the walls could be hacked back to the brickwork. The contractor decided to call us in as a more cost effective option. The building was dried in 16 days with NO stripout saving £20000 over the original scope of work.

  • Timber framed property Scotland: (no pic available) Dried in 4 days. No stripout. Other contractors had specified that all dry lining and floorboards needed to be removed. We dried with everything in place reducing the refurb cost and time out of the property.

  • Stone Farmhouse, Yorkshire. Seriously damaged by river flood. Surveyors ripped out everything prior to our attendance… still, we dried it in just days allowing for a faster recovery.

  • High Net Worth Property, Southampton. Entire 3500 sq ft basement leisure complex saturated from leak caused by underfloor heating over an estimated period of a year. Surveyor recommended that the screed and sub floor cork insulation be stripped and re instated at a cost of over £100,000. Action Dry was called in. Nothing was stripped, drying took 16 days with the Speedry system and the cost of drying was less than £12,000.

  • Detached Bungalow, Leighton Buzzard. Loft tank burst severely flooding entire property. “Experts” recommended all furniture be thrown and that the property ceilings be removed and walls stripped to expose the brickwork. The owner with no contents insurance cover decided to use the Speedry system which dried the property in 20 days with almost all furniture and carpets en situ saved! Minimal stripout was required with the Speedry and estimated cost savings were put at £15000.

  • Block of 103 Apartments. YES 103, two and three bedroom flats in Stevenage damaged after fire on 15th floor had caused pipework to burst and extinguishment water to flood to the floors below. Every flat was evacuated and costs to clear and store the occupiers contents then strip out each flat considered by the Loss Adjusters before we were called in to use our speed drying systems to dry the block out. Using 3 drying trailers and despite six more major floods during our works, we were out in 56 days. Dehumidifiers were not considered as there was only 64 amps of electric to use for the whole block. Overall savings were put at close to £1 million.
